What Is Fuel Additive Treat Rate?
The treat rate is the recommended concentration of fuel additive per gallon of diesel. It's usually expressed as ounces per gallon (e.g., 1:400 means 1 ounce treats 400 gallons). The treat rate determines your actual cost per gallon treated — a cheaper bottle with a worse treat rate can cost more per gallon than a premium additive with a concentrated formula. Always compare additives by cost per gallon treated, not bottle price.
