What Is EGR?
EGR systems reduce NOx emissions by recirculating a portion of exhaust gas back into the intake manifold, lowering combustion temperatures. While effective for emissions, EGR introduces soot and carbon deposits into the intake system, leading to buildup on valves and the EGR cooler. Cleaner combustion from fuel additives reduces the soot that causes EGR system problems, extending maintenance intervals.
