What Is NOx Emissions?
NOx (nitrogen oxides) are harmful pollutants produced during diesel combustion when nitrogen and oxygen react at high temperatures. NOx contributes to smog, acid rain, and respiratory health problems. EPA regulations limit NOx output from diesel engines through EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) systems. Combustion catalyst additives can reduce NOx by optimizing burn temperatures.
